JazzWriter

I'm a freelance writer by day and a working jazz musician by night, and often I am able to combine my two lines of work. This blog is for posting gigs & various rants about music and life in general.

Gigs have definitely slowed down, which is one reason why I haven't posted much lately. No gigs, no stories! And to be honest, I haven't really been thinking much about music lately. Since my due date's creeping up (March18) I've been busy preparing for the arrival of our daughter, Madison Ann. Anyone want to take a stab at what instrument she'll play?

Next weekend is the Knox-Jazz Rootabaga Festival, held at my alma mater. I encourage anyone within driving distance of an hour or two to attend. This year's lineup includes:

Thursday, March 2
Knox Faculty & Friends Jam Session
8 pm - midnight, McGuillicuddy's

Friday, March 3
Knox Alumni Big Band, 8-9 pm
Ashanti, 10 pm - midnight
McGuillicuddy's

Saturday, March 4
KJE performance & Jim Rotundi/Eric Alexander
7:30 (?) pm, Orpheum

Also, next Thursday will be my last night at Panache for a few months. I'm starting jazz "maternity leave" on March 9 and will take off thru April. I hope to be back in May, but we'll see. Be sure to keep coming out, though, as I've got subs lined up each night. Email me for details, if you're interested!
